How to Convert CGPA into German Grading System?
Understand the conversion between CGPA and German grading scales using the Modified Bavarian Formula
Grading Scale Conversion
The German grading system uses a scale from 1.0 (best) to 5.0 (fail). To convert your CGPA to the German equivalent, we use the Modified Bavarian Formula:
Modified Bavarian Formula
(Nmax - Nd) / (Nmax - Nmin) × 3 + 1
Where Nmax is the best possible grade in your system (4.0), Nmin is the worst passing grade (2.0), and Nd is your actual grade.

Important Notes
- This conversion is based on the Modified Bavarian Formula used by many German universities.
- Some universities may use slightly different conversion methods - always check with your specific institution.
- The German grading system is more stringent - a 1.0 is exceptional and rarely given.
- Grades below 4.0 are passing, while 5.0 means the student has failed.
